Here are reasons why your customer should always include their email & phone number when they check out:
- If there is a typo, even a single letter or number in their name, address or zip code can dramatically halt a package. Having contact information on standby to ask for confirmation can help prevent delays.
- US Customs & Border Protections recently released policy, which recommends including a recipient's email and phone number to prevent items from being held at customs.
- Helpful for cross-selling & email marketing
As a customer, following this advice would rule out almost all delays caused by human error; However, humankind is not perfect. This is where you can pick up the torch & light the cauldron of success. How do we do that?
Validating customer Information
Here are three ways you can validate customer's shipping information:
- Melissa lookups
- Use contact information to confirm the given address (no missing apt #, PO box # or typos)
- Install an app to validate addresses for you - Like Address Validator for Shopify

- Select Apps in your Shopify Admin
- Type Validator in the search bar and select, "Search Validator in Shopify App Store"
