Canva - DPI Limitations & How To Solve Them

Introduction

Canva is great for creating designs conveniently and quickly. However, it doesn't come without limitations. Let's discuss what those limitations are, and how we can work around them.

Limitations

For this example, we'll use our Pinnacle 40oz Tumbler. This product requires a design with 3245x3105 dimensions, transparency and black artwork. Canva can do this fine, as seen below: 



After downloading your design, take notice how there are no errors in the ShineOn app: 



Though the design uploaded with success, THIS LISTING WILL NOT FULFILL due to the limitation I'll show you now.

Using This Website, we can check the DPI of our new design. If it doesn't show a DPI of 300, then it can't be fulfilled: 

• Upload your design and choose Check DPI
  
  

• Select Change DPI to give your design a DPI of 300
  
  

You can see the design has a DPI of 96, which is much lower than 300. You can change this with the Change DPI option.

If your design needs to be transparent, you will need to use a different converter. Clideo works perfectly for this:

• Now when we check the DPI on our new design file, the DPI will be 300
  
  

With this new file, your LISTING WILL FULFILL


Products with a dimension requirement of 8k+

Canva has a size limit of 8k pixels. For products that exceed this limit, it would be good to use Photopea or another alternative of your choice. 

Here is how to make sure your design has the correct settings: 

• This design is for the Rubber Yoga Mat. It will need to be saved as a .JPG. Other products should be saved according to their requirements. 
  
  

• After you select the file type, you will see a window with different settings. Once these are confirmed to match the product requirements, select Save
