Upsells with Shopify's Default product page

Would you like upsells to show without switching to FAST or ShineOn Product Page? Then this guide is for you.  Let's get started! 


Basic information out of the way

First, for this to work you'll need to be Starter Tier or higher, and you should have Shopify Online Store 2.0. If upsells are not toggled on within the app, this won't work regardless of which template you use. 

Within the ShineOn app, go to your product and proceed with the steps:



Then, select "Product Upsells" on the top: 



Choose up to 3 upsells of your choice: 



You're now done on the app, let's head over to Shopify for the fun bit! 


Shopify side 

Once you're in Shopify, go to "Online Store": 



Then go to "Themes" and then "Customize":



Once you're in your theme's customization, look for your product:



I've found my product, now I'll select it to customize the Default Product Page: 



You should now be within your product, and able to customize the product page set for that specific product, and all other products with Default Product page as the template: 



If you're on the incorrect template, go out of your theme customizer, back to your Shopify Home page > Products, and find the product. 

Then select it to edit, and scroll down until you find the "Templates" section on the right. Change the template to "Default Product"



Let's head back to the theme customizer, if the above step was necessary. 


Enabling upsells for Default Product

Being on your product within the customizer, you should see a section on the bottom left called "Add block", select this: 



After selecting "Add block", go to the "Apps" and select "ShineOn Product Upsells": 



Take the new block that you've created, and drag it so that it's over your "Buy Buttons" block: 



The upsells should now show on your Default Product page! Let's go to the top right and "save" these new settings: 



You can now exit the customizer and enjoy upsells! 




How to get Package Protection to work

Of course, we'll need to make sure this upsell is enabled in the app:



Good to go, now let's go back to Shopify:



Within Shopify, go back to our customization page earlier, in Shopify settings > Online Store > Themes > Customize > Product with Default product page on. Once you're on the product, go to the top, where it says "Default product" and choose "Cart":



Once you've selected "Cart" on the top, go to "Add Block" on the bottom left, and in the Apps section, select "ShineOn Cart Upsell":



After you select ShineOn Cart Upsell, drag it above "Checkout button" and save on the top right:




And now Package Protection should work correctly in your cart:
